Thirty Days of Tongue Taming

I imagine God rubbing his hands with delight, grinning from ear to ear

I would imagine that these words from my mouth thrill Him more than almost any others.

I picture God sitting on the edge of His throne, eagerly waiting for that
“Green light”
that I give when I mutter …

Hope for More than Just Surviving

“Just surviving” is a real place.
If you are finding yourself in that place where you are “trying to survive”, take heart, its ok.

If all you can do is get both feet out of the bed and onto the floor; you are already there.

You already are a survivor.

Sometimes, surviving is a breath at a time, and that, my friend, is ok,  too.

You qualify. You are a survivor.
Moment by moment, you are doing it.

You are surviving and that, in itself, is victory.

Not Sure if You’re Happy? 10 Revealing and Somewhat Silly Happy Tests

Do you remember this catchy little song we use to sing as kids….

If You’re HAPPY and You Know It, Clap Your Hands….

***CLAP, CLAP!***

If You’re HAPPY and You Know It, Clap Your Hands….

***CLAP, CLAP!***

If You’re HAPPY and You Know It, Then Your Face is Gonna SHOW IT!

If You’re HAPPY and You Know It…..

(oh yeah… you know it….)

CLAP YOUR HANDS!!!

But WAIT?  What if you are happy and you don’t know it?

What if, all this time, you were sitting in a great big bowl of happy and just had no idea?

How Do You Explain Trossachs?

When I was asked  to give my testimony at our family camp’s annual fund-raiser last spring,
I asked the kids what I should talk about.
They all had ideas, and we shared lots of stories and memories of what Trossachs meant to the Smith family.

Then my daughter Summer piped up and said, “Mom, how do you explain Trossachs?
Trossachs made us”

Wow.
The girl had nailed it.
Three words, summed up  Trossachs,

“ It made us”

When I look back , every area of breakthrough and growth in my family has  had roots at Trossachs Gospel Camp.

Answered Prayer for You~ Isaiah 55:11

“So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the things where to I sent it.”

WOW !
Father, you said that not me! What an immensely bold promise!

One, God, that you are more than able to keep. Because you have said it God, it has to be true.

Your word accomplishes things. It accomplishes wonderful things!!

Things that please you

And Daddy God, we know that the things that please you are GOOD.
Father, today I commit to being your mouth piece. Set a gaurd over my mouth Lord, so that I would not sin against you. But strengthen me, quicken me, so that all I say blesses and brings life.
Let me speak only your words today. Your words which prosper and accomplish YOUR WILL
I pray, in Jesus beautiful name, the name above all names, for my bloggie brothers and sisters.
Lord, I speak the word over them today. Father that you direct them in all that they do and say.
That they commit their ways to you, and you will lead them.
For those that are struggling to find purpose and direction, Lord that you would overwhelm them with your goodness.
Father, that they would be filled with a hunger and a passion for your word.
Jesus, you said you are the living word, let the hunger and passion be for you, and you alone.
Father, assure them that as they open their mouths you will fill them.
Fill them with your word. Fill them with your very self.
In Jesus name,
Amen, so be it.

To Live or Not to Live~ Who’s Choice is it?

I’m going to share something that is becoming deeply ingrained in my me.

It’s a verse that has  challenged and changed everything by changing and challenging the eyes thru which I view everything.

“Today, I lay before you life and death;
choose life”.

Whether you’re a bible reader or not, you have to admit there are some really big thoughts in there.

This is  something that has the power to  change it all for you. Guaranteed .
If you sink your teeth into this juicey morsel, you will taste and see how good the Lord can be.

When I don my other “hat” as  Your Natural Food Coach,
I see one consistent inconsistency  time and time again when  counciling with folks.

It is the “maker or breaker” of whether they will nix their eating demons and rebuild their health.

The secret is in that verse.

It’s all about learning to control that chooser inside.

Not an easy task .

I know that my “chooser” can run a million miles in every direction and, often, none of them are the direction I want to go.

If we ponder the essence that  make this verse  huge we will notice four wee words…

TODAY-YOU-CHOOSE- LIFE.

We choose.

Who does?
WE DO!

When do we choose?
DAILY!!

And what do we choose?
LIFE or DEATH!

What we choose is life or death and we are choosing it  NOW.

From there,  it’s easy to understand how  each choice is either life or death.
With each choice we move forwards toward one or the other.

I am convinced, with every fiber of my being, that there is no neutral ground in choosing.

No gray zone.

Nothing of nil- effect.

Our choices, however slight or flippant, will take us in one of two directions.
Towards Life or Towards Death.

You cannot stand still on an escalator.
You  either go up or down.

Up to Life or Down to Death.

And we are the ones determining that direction with each choice regardless of how  it may appear.

No one will make that choice for you.

Your direction on that escalator will forever and always  be  exclusively between you, your great big beautiful heart and that fella inside named “Will”.

Picture each choice  as a seed that will grow.
It  either grows something lush and beautiful that  bears fruit to enjoy, nourish and bring more life.
Or it will grow some nasty weed, solely consumed with its own self- preservation.
A predator that will ravage your garden and consume anything thats stands  in its way to total conquest.

So I  ask you, what  lush and vibrant life-growing choices have you made today?

I know you made some.

But do YOU KNOW you  made some?

We are a people that are so brutally hard on ourselves.
Grading ourself on all our shortcomings, scribbling across our exam page with a great big red F for FAIL!

But, yes, you have made good choices today.

Most likely they were choices that were hard to make.

That’s why they’re choices.

Maybe you chose to put the cinnamon bun back on the shelf.
Maybe you chose to sit and read a book to your little boy while the dishes pile up in the sink.
Maybe you bite your tongue and extended grace to the guy who just cut you off in traffic.

This is all life, folks.

This all grows great big wonderful life inside of you.

And step-by-step little-by-little we are changed.

If you made yourself get to the gym, today when you really didn’t want to.
YOU CHOSE LIFE!
Spent that time with your Heavenly Father?
LIFE! LIFE! GREAT BIG GLORIOUS LIFE!

Give yourself kudos where you deserve it.
Quit being stingy!

Let out a hoot and holler and a hallelujah!!

Still don’t believe me?
Take a quiet moment and ask yourself.  Ask God.
He  would love to show you where He is proud of you!
He is your biggest cheering section.
He is such a big fan that He sings over you!

Remember, in His eyes you have already surpassed “Conqueror Status”

We make a gazillion choices every day

And YES you HAVE made many, many good ones.

And now, knowing what we know, we will contine up that escalator and make MORE LIFE CHOICES.

These little steps are going to get us where we are going, guys.

Don’t be scared of that fella, “Will”.
He can work with you. He can be your most valued ally.
He just needs to be given his marching orders.
Let Mr Will know right now, that the rules have changed, your mind is set and he will be bent on that and only that which is good.

We choose to set our “choosers” on to life.
We will dig out the weeds of our bad choices with repentance and the grace of God.

With every choice a fragrant harvest comes in  due season.
Circumstances change. We change.

Voila! We begin living life in life, not in the swallows of death.

I love you,
Jo

But really God… I can fix this one.. Trust me..

I ran into my victim a day or two back.

You know, the poor soul who’s life and esteem I ripped from stem to stern with my  “dominating attitude”.

Dominating?
Hmmm, maybe stubborn is the word… no, no, that’s not it either….

How about unsubmitted, disobedient, selfish, uncrucified not-quit-dead-yet flesh…

Ya, I hurt someone  deeply because I think I know better than God.

Because I can’t let my wants, my desires, my ME, stay dead at that cross. And I don’t keep my mouth and my logical understanding, from trying to run the show.

Well, I ran into that person the other day.
It broke my heart.
It was all I could do to stop shaking.

More than anything I wanted to grab them, hug them, put some Star Trek Mind Wiper thingy on them and erase every memory of all past iniquities.

But, alas… I think its finally sinking into my noggin that the harder I try to fix things, the worser it gets.

I can do nothing in my flesh.

There is nothing that I can say.
There is nothing that I can do.

All that person wants of me is to honor their request and vanish… poofity poof…

It is Easter soon.  I think alot about the Ressurection.
I know God is the God of the Ressurection.
I think He get quite a kick out of  ressurecting things.
And I am still counting on the God of the Ressurection to do what He does best and breathe life into what is dead.

I try to remind myself that God quite delights when I take my hands off of things.
That it pleases Him when I sit in quiet expectation, counting on Him to come thru for me.

If your heart is aching over strained and broken fellowship, regrets and remose, please, take hope.
There is so much hope. He is our HOPE!

God will not share the Glory.
If we are fighting and straining to fix something, He will not interfer.
He will lovingly sit and watch us dig our hole deeper and wider, until the hole becomes a grave, and that thing  insides dies.

He will watch patiently until we come till the end of our own self.
Untill we get to the very deep, very clear realization that we can do nothing of our own selves and we need Him and all of Him in all of us.

But He is the God of reconciliation. It is why He sent Jesus to that Cross.
His mercy is beyond description.

It will come.
I believe Him. I know Him.
I know His Heart and I know His love for me and my victim.

Reconciliation will come for you too.
I am praying that for you  tonight as I try not to listen to much to the empty hollow banging in my heart.

Easter is a season of miracles.
Death to life.
Thats what He is all about and I believe Him.

Time to dig into Key 1 and Key 2…. Oh how my Daddy loves me.

He loves me in my pain. He loves me in my lonliness. He loves me in my repentance.
He is also using this time to walk me and “victim” into a new place of healing, and death to ourselves.

So when that day comes, we can shout to the world LOOK WHAT GOD HAS DONE.

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for anyone today who is wadding thru strained fellowship, disappointment, heart break.
God, you be the healer. God you are the restorer.
Thank you for the amazing work you are doing. Work that we may not know, may not see, but we don’t need to.
We know you.  We know you heart and it is beautiful.
I pray you touch my bloggie friend today when the darkness sneaks in.
When doubt and lies scream.
I pray that the truth of your word rises above all else.
Everything is possible!
YES!! This is possible.

And when our miracles happen, you will get all the glory and all the praise.

In JESUS Name,
Amen, so be it.
